About The Netlands

The Netlands might be one of the busiest families in town.

Eric is the Owner of Play it Again Sports.

Emily is a 1st grade teacher at Horace Mann Elementary and an instructor at Courts Plus Community Fitness.

Emmerich is an 8th grader at Discovery Middle School who participates in football, hockey, track & field, and golf. In his spare time, he umps baseball for Fargo Youth Baseball.

Easton is a 7th grader at Discovery Middle School who participates in tennis, hockey, baseball, and golf.

Elyse is a 5th grader at Eagles Elementary who participates in gymnastics and track & field.

Eddie is a four-year-old who loves daycare and “being dragged to every sporting event under the sun.”

“Family time has become more important as the kids are getting older and much more independent,” Emily said. “We try to take a family trip once or twice a year. This is usually in the form of a road trip in the summer for a few days or going somewhere warm over spring break. We also do game nights once or twice a month. It usually starts with some heavy sighing and eye-rolling when it comes up, but by the end of it, we are crying from laughing so hard. Sunday nights are typically the only night we are all home for a meal. So, we try to make sure that that’s the one night everyone gets a hot meal instead of heating one up in the microwave while they are coming and going.”

Training Options In Town

The Netlands are a very athletic family. Here are a couple of trainers and sports camps they take advantage of.

El Zagal

The Netlands 6

If you aren’t a fan of regular golf, you can still hit the links at El Zagal for some fun with the only FootGolf course in the Fargo-Moorhead area. FootGolf is a cross between golf and soccer.

Krafting Champions

The Netlands 5

Put on by former professional hockey player and Moorhead native Ryan Kraft, Krafting Champions has been Emmerich’s go-to summer hockey camp.

“I love this camp because it’s twice a week in the summer at 6 a.m. That means he has all day to do what he wants after he is done,” Emily said.

Easton is a hockey goalie so he attends Edge Goaltending, a camp that has trained multiple Division I goaltenders. Learn more about the camp at edgegoaltending.com

Did you know?
The tennis courts at Discovery Middle School are open to the public and the lights don’t shut off until 10 p.m. in the summer. This is a great spot for a fun late-night game with the family! Visit it at 1717 40th Avenue S, Fargo.

Team NoDak Youth Club

“This is Elyse’s track & field organization and we love it because you can make a big or small commitment, whatever works for you.”

S2AQ Sports Acceleration Camp

The Netlands 3

S2AQ Sports Acceleration Camp is a camp put on by Myron Loberg, a man with extensive experience working with top-level athletes from all sports—a number of athletes he has trained have gone on to become professional athletes and many more have gone on to receive college scholarships. The camp is for kids in grades 6 through 12 and takes place at a park in West Fargo during
the summer.

“It’s great because you can pay per week or you can pay for the whole summer and it’s super affordable,” Emily said. “Emmerich loves it because it keeps him in shape and he’s doing different things than he would in the gym or at hockey or at football.”

Wristband Days

Thunder Road

The Johnsons Jenny Johnsons 2 1

One of the Netlands’ favorite things to take advantage of is the wristband days at Thunder Road. On wristband days; which are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m., you can get unlimited go-karts, mini golf, laser tag, batting cages, and bumper cars for $30 per person.
