“Western State Bank has grown with West Fargo,” said Matthew Oachs, West Fargo market president. “Our customers are not just our clients. They are our neighbors, and we’re proud of our North Dakota roots.”

Three Things You May Not Know

  1. Western State Bank was founded in 1902 as the Bank of Webster, ND. In 1968,
the name changed, and the headquarters moved to Devils Lake. The bank expanded to West Fargo in 1999.
  2. Western Equipment Finance, a division of the bank, works with businesses across the country.
  3. Western State Bank has three locations in North Dakota and seven locations in the Phoenix metro area.

School Support

Western continuously supports the Packers, Mustangs, and Hawks. Over the past five years, the bank has donated more than $70,000 to the high school booster clubs. During teacher appreciation week each year, team members deliver Sandy’s Donuts to every public school in West Fargo.

Making Our Community Better

Giving back is central to Western’s hometown banking philosophy. Team members receive paid time off to volunteer, and the bank matches team member gifts to qualifying organizations. The Cause in Your Community program annually supports two local nonprofit organizations based on customer nominations. Several team members and their families walk with Western’s float in the West Fest parade each year.

“Enhancing our communities requires a collective effort,” Oachs said. “As a company and as team members, we are dedicated to active involvement and giving back.”
