Inspiring The Next Generation

Youth programming is at the heart of the Fargo Air Museum’s outreach. From January through November, the museum hosts Youth Aviation Camps and STEAM Camps to give kids a hands-on introduction to flight and spark interest in aviation careers. Each month brings a new theme, keeping the experience fresh and engaging.

Beyond camps, students can dive into flight simulators, try drone piloting, or attend history nights. “We want to spark curiosity and inspire passion,” volunteer education coordinator Dave Mohn, who has dedicated more than a decade to leading these programs, said.

A Community For Veteransa

The museum also serves as a gathering place for veterans. On the second Wednesday of every month, it hosts a Veterans Coffee Hour, complete with coffee, donuts, and conversation. The event fosters camaraderie and connection, with attendance once reaching as high as 98 veterans.

Learning By Doing

Hands-on experiences make aviation accessible to all who walk through the museum’s doors. From simulators and drones to guided tours through history, the opportunities for exploration are endless. Each year, more than 800 students from across the Midwest tour the museum, leaving with a deeper appreciation for flight.

Built On Passion

The Fargo Air Museum thrives thanks to its staff and volunteers, who bring their love of aviation to every program, tour, and event.

“Our goal is to make aviation history accessible to everyone,” Mohn said. “Through education and personal connections, we aim to inspire every visitor—whether it’s a child at their first camp, a veteran at coffee hour, or a flight enthusiast rediscovering history.”
