Midco’s $500M Bet on a Lightning-Fast Internet Future

Midco’s Ben Dold on the future of the internet.

Imagine a world where your internet is always fast, reliable and ready for anything you need. That’s the future Midco® is bringing to your doorstep with multi-gig speeds through the Fiber Forward® initiative, Midco’s $500 million investment to build a future with ultra-smooth, ultra-fast, ultra-reliable internet.

“We’re going to be ready for whatever the next must-have app or device is with a connection that has little delay and goes beyond the bounds of new technology to future-proof our network,” said Midco Chief Operating Officer Ben Dold.

A dependable connection isn’t just a luxury anymore – it’s a necessity. Whether working from home, streaming your favorite shows or connecting with loved ones, you deserve internet service that can keep up with your life. This is where multi-gig speeds come in – giving you the power to do more and experience more.

From bold beginnings to fiber frontiers.

Eliminating connectivity concerns.

Have you ever felt frustrated by slow internet, especially during peak usage times? Maybe you’ve experienced buffering during a crucial moment in a video call or delays when uploading large files. These challenges can disrupt your day and hinder productivity.

With Midco’s beyond gig speeds now available, community members in and around Fargo are experiencing a result of Fiber Forward.

“When we say, ‘beyond gig,’ it is going beyond gigabit speeds, which is a game changer for our customers and the communities we serve,” said Dold. “We’ve been busy with construction and field operations upgrading the network across our footprint with all new fiber and electronics to allow new connections to homes and businesses.”

Think seamless streaming, quicker downloads and a more responsive connection for all your devices. You have the speed and capacity to handle whatever comes your way.

“We’re proud to be one of the first providers to bring multi-gig speeds to all eligible homes and businesses,” said Dold. “These customers will now be able to select 1.25 or 2 gig download speeds with increased upload speeds, giving them more options that fit their needs and budget.”

Planning for the next.

Your needs and wants today may be different in a decade. And, it’s important to have an internet provider who stays ahead of the curve with the latest tech and offerings.

“Each decision, upgrade or investment Midco makes is centered around our customers. We’re continuously evaluating how we can improve their experience and make their lives easier,” explained Dold.

By investing in fiber technology and infrastructure, Midco is getting ahead of these issues – and upcoming demands.

Through the Fiber Forward initiative, Midco continues to expand its network – reaching 22,000 total fiber miles by 2030. This includes significant expansions in cities like Jamestown, ND, and Detroit Lakes, MN, ensuring more people can benefit from top-tier connectivity.

The company’s community involvement is exemplified by volunteer events, foundation grants and local sponsorships, including the Moorhead Chamber Golf Tournament, Fargo Moorhead Opera, F5 Program and Jeremiah Program Fargo-Moorhead.

“Giving back to communities and investing in local organizations truly fuels us as a company,” concluded Dold. “Whether it’s through providing top-quality connections or being a force for good, we want to help places grow and people continue to thrive.”
